General purpose and most popularly used.
With strong, ground cutting edges these taps cuts threads
to the tolerances required. Are available in a set of
3 taps in Non Serial form and Serial form. These taps
can also be manufactured in M35 & M42 Steels with
various surface treatments.
In the Non Serial form
the 3 taps are designated as Taper - 6.5 to 7 thread
chamfer, Second - 4.5 to 5 threads chamfer and bottoming
- 2 to 2.5 threads chamfer. All the taps have equal
major and pitch diameter. Can be used in blind and through
holes if there exists enough clearance.
In the Serial form the 3 taps are designated
as Rougher, Intermediate and Finisher. The major and
pitch diameter of the Rougher and the Intermediate taps
are smaller in size than those of the Finisher. Recommended
for hand tapping hard materials like stainless steel,
ma raging steel etc.
